Arsenal are nearing a new deal with this £200,000 a week first-team star.

Arsenal have been proactive with the January transfer window fast approaching. It is a welcomed change but this time they have been focused on extending the contracts of those players nearing the end of their deals.

Yesterday The Top Flight reported that Bukayo Saka was close to extending his contract. Today the good news has continued, as Mail has reported Gabriel Martinelli will join that list – he is close to agreeing a new deal worth £200,000.

If this was reported in the past, I would certainly say that it is silly money. However, it is a new era of football and I am proud to say that Martinelli has transformed into one of Arsenal’s best and most important players.

Playing as a left-sided winger, he has started in a consistent front three with Saka and Gabriel Jesus. With new January arrivals expected in the front-three, it will take a lot to keep the Brazil international out of the starting XI.

Martinelli has scored 5 Premier League goals and provided two assists in the first half of the Premier League season. This is a very good statistic and he will be hoping for an even more fruitful second half of the season, as the Gunners seek to build on their first-place position.

Martinelli is fresh from representing Brazil at the World Cup. However, given their early exit I would expect the Arsenal frontman to be back and prepping for the season ahead. He is a hard worker and those that have watched All or Nothing on Amazon Prime will know him and his family are treated very well by the staff.

Maturing into a truly important player for the Gunners, it’s good to see they are prioritising his contract extension – especially considering some of the great players they have lost for free in recent history.

Do you think Gabriel Martinelli is worth £200,000 per week?
