Why Arsenal must go all in for Joao Felix, not Mykhailo Mudryk

Arsenal transfer news is coming in thick and thin, but if recent reports about Joao Felix are to be believed, then it’s bye bye Mudryk.

I don’t mean this in a disrespectful way to Mykailo Mudryk, as I and other writers at the Top Flight have long sung his praise. Mudryk is an exceptional forward and one that would become a certain star if Arsenal were to sign him.

However, football is a harsh sport. With news coming in thick and fast, it can be cruel to players who set their hearts on signing for one club.

With the Gunners currently looking at options in attack, following the important Gabriel Jesus injury, it is no surprise to see Mikel Arteta altering his priorities in the January transfer window.

The Brazil forward is an incredibly important piece to the Arsenal jigsaw and is a large reason why they are at the top of the Premier League with a healthy advantage. Therefore, if moves are to be made in January, it will centre around his absence.

The Top Flight reported earlier that Joao Felix was at the top of Arsenal’s radar, with the player wishing to move away from Atletico Madrid for a new challenge.

And signing for Arsenal is exactly the challenge which Joao Felix would shine at achieving. The Portugal forward, who recently was knocked out of the World Cup, has a lot to think about. With Atletico Madrid underperforming this season and risking their spot in the Champions League, Arsenal is certainly an attractive destination for him.

Under Mikel Arteta, the Gunners are an inspired team – their aims of qualifying for the Champions League are looking more and more short-sighted, with many experts claiming they could win the league.

We know all about Joao Felix’s talents. He showcases them on a weekly basis and there is a reason why he is one of the most expensive players in the world. But why does this mean he is a better option for Arsenal than Mudryk?

Well, Felix is also very versatile. He wouldn’t simply be a panic buy, which is what most critics would accuse him of being. Even after Gabriel Jesus returns to full fitness. Felix will not be pushed aside, he will continue to be an exceptional asset to the side, whether it be as a centre forward or a left-sided forward. He really can do it all in attack, and is everything the Gunners have been missing.

Do you think Arsenal will sign Joao Felix this January?
