Enes Ünal – Getafe

Current Team: Getafe CF

Age: 25

Nationality: Turkey

The most experienced and oldest player so far, Ünal could be the most likely to provide immediate help as the transition between La Liga and the EPL is likely to be the least difficult.

Enes Ünal is the third youngest scorer in Turkish SuperLig history and subsequently made a move to English giants Manchester City shortly after impressing in Turkey as a kid. Ünal would be loaned to 3 clubs in 2 seasons before permanently moving to Spanish side Villareal where he once again became a loanee player featuring for both Levante and Valladolid in La Liga before making his switch to Getafe in 2020.

Ünal impressively scored 16 goals last season in La Liga and has 4 goals and 2 assists in 14 games this season. Ünal was a part of Turkey’s squad at Euro 2020.

Why Getafe may let Ünal go to Southampton FC

Quite frankly, outside of a deal they could not refuse, there is not much reason for Getafe to sell Enes Ünal. This is why Ünal would be seen as a last resort option in January should a deal for the likes of Okafor or Moffi not come to fruition. Getafe currently sit just 3 points out of relegation and Getafe will depend on Ünal to be a big part of their survival.

Perhaps some parallels can be drawn between the two clubs in the sense they both would be relying on Ünal to help them avoid relegation. The Premier League pull cannot be understated though so a move for Ünal would not necessarily be unlikely but Southampton FC may have to overpay for the player in order for Getafe to give in.
