Terem Moffi – FC Lorient

Current Team: FC Lorient

Age: 23

Nationality: Nigeria

An emerging centre-forward in the french top flight could be an intriguing option for Southampton FC to pursue.

Already a bit of a journeyman at age 23, Moffi has played in England, Lithuania, Belgium and now France already. He left Nigeria to join English footballing academy Buckswood and quickly moved to Lithuanian sides Kauno Žalgiris and FK Riteriai where he netted 21 goals in 39 matches. This earned Moffi a move to Belgium where played just 9 games with Kortrijk before moving to FC Lorient in 2020.

Over his last 3 seasons in northwest France, Moffi has 33 goals and 7 assists in 86 matches. What has put Moffi in a position to potentially move to a higher level is his 10 goals in 14 Ligue 1 matches this season which has seen FC Lorient climb up to fifth in the domestic table. Moffi made his debut last summer for Nigeria.

Why FC Lorient may let Moffi go to Southampton FC

With respect to FC Lorient, getting a chance to be a main contributor at a Premier League club can be a very hard opportunity to turn down, especially since FC Lorient is not in European competition and have the likes of OL, Lille, Nice and Monaco breathing down their necks for a European spot next season.

With very little reason to worry about relegation this season, FC Lorient may be wise to cash in on Moffi as the striker has just two years left on his contract that expires in 2024.

While it usually means nothing in the grand scheme of things, Moffi shares the same agency as current Southampton FC players Romeo Lavia and Joe Aribo who joined last summer.

Probable price: £15-20M
