Arsenal wish to bring World Cup scorer to the Emirates Stadium.

It is no secret that Mikel Arteta is instilling a long-term winning philosophy at Arsenal. Big summer signings Zinchenko and Jesus of Manchester City proved that he wanted to build a squad of winners and he’s not stopping there.

Where better to turn to for proven players than Real Madrid? According to a report from Calciomercato, Arsenal will mount a serious bid to bring Marco Asensio to Arsenal in the summer.

The Top Flight view: Arsenal absolutely must sign Marco Asensio

Arsenal are pushing to return to their former superclub status but to do this, they must win silverware. Currently sitting top of the Premier League table during the World cup break, they do not seem too far away from achieving this.

Bringing in someone like Marco Asensio will work absolute wonders and it’ll give the young crop of players at Arsenal much more inspiration to succeed.

Although Asensio has fallen down the pecking order under Carlo Ancelotti, he is an excellent generational talent and one that will be wasted unless the 26 year old guarantes game time elsewhere. He has already got himself on the scoresheet for Spain at the World Cup in Qatar, proving he is under-used in the footballing capital.

Where will Marco Asensio slot in under Mikel Arteta?

The good thing about Asensio is that he is not just limited to one position. This season alone, he has played a multitude of positions, whether it be as a central midfielder, winger on either side or even a centre forward, he really can do it all.

This is why he would be a great asset to Arsenal – the main concern for the Gunners is that they do not have depth and one injury could set them back a lot. Having players who can play across a variety of positions will prove pivotal to Arteta in the long-run. Therefore, it makes absolute sense.
