By Kian Long
All you need to know about Liverpool players at the FIFA World Cup 2022 – updated daily.
Liverpool have seven players playing at the FIFA World Cup 2022. But just how well are the Reds performing? This post will provide daily updates of the ongoings in Qatar, including goals, game-time, injuries and other updates.
So far, the Reds have not picked up any injuries in the World Cup. This is a good sign for Jurgen Klopp, who will be rooting for his country Germany while also keeping a stern eye on Liverpool players, hoping they can pick up some much-need confidence and avoid any injuries.

KNOCKOUT STAGES
Sat 3 Nov – Virgil van Dijk plays full match as Netherlands goes through to quarter finals
The Netherlands got an impressive win over the USA. Virgil van Dijk did his job well at the back, as there was only a short amount of time in the game where USA looked like making a comeback. A real captain’s performance sees Virgil van Dijk come up against Argentina in the quarters.
GROUP STAGES
Fri 2 Nov – Darwin Nunez plays 80 minutes as Uruguay gets knocked out
I won’t beat around the bush – it’s been a tournament to forget for the new Liverpool striker.
He has not done enough to inspire the other Uruguayan players, but in all fairness, he is just another amongst a bad bunch of players. Hopefully returning to Anfield will do him the world of good, as Liverpool are inspired to perform in the second half of this Premier League season.
Fri 2 Nov – Fabinho plays full match, Alisson rested as Brazil goes through
Liverpool midfielder Fabinho got the nod in this match, as Brazil had already secured their place in the round of 16. Alisson, who is usually the preferred number 1 was rested on the bench.
Tue 29 Nov – Konate plays full match as France goes through
Another one. They may have lost to Tunisia. but France have still qualified for the knockout stages of the World Cup. This means Konate joins the list of Liverpool players in the World Cup knockouts.
Tue 29 Nov – Henderson plays full match while Trent appears from the bench as England progress
Join the queue – Henderson and Trent will also be staying in Qatar, as England beat Wales 3-0 to top their group. Henderson started and played expertly, using his loud voice well. It was also nice to see Trent come off the bench and he played well too.
Tue 29 Nov – van Dijk captains Netherlands and progresses to knockouts
Virgil van Dijk is another Liverpool player preparing now for the knockouts of this competition after the Netherlands secured their place by beating the hosts Qatar 2-0.
Mon 28 Nov – Nunez plays 72 minutes for Uruguay
Liverpool new boy Darwin Nunez got 72 minutes of football under his belt for Uruguay but it will be his last of the tournament unless his country beats Ghana and other results go their way.
Mon 28 Nov – Alisson plays full match as him and Fabinho progress for Brazil
Liverpool men Alisson and Fabinho have some knockout stage football ahead of them as they secured qualification after just two games. Alisson did well against Switzerland to get the clean sheet, whereas Fabinho got plenty of rest on the bench.
Sat 26 Nov – Konate comes off the bench for 15 minutes for France
The Liverpool centre-back made another performance for France, this time coming off the bench in the 75th minute. In all honesty, his game time in this match did not justify an analysis.
Fri 25 Nov – Jordan Henderson comes off the bench for 22 minutes for England, Trent unused
Henderson was a used substitute for England in their disappointing 0-0 draw to USA. The England man hardly put a foot wrong but he did not make a significant impact on England’s attacking play. Trent Alexander-Arnold was unused for the second game in a row.
Fri 25 Nov – Virgil van Dijk plays 90 minutes and captains Netherlands
Overall, it was a good display by the captain and Liverpool man Virgil van Dijk. He will be his own harshest critic when it comes to conceding a goal, but the one point means they are all but qualified for the knockouts.
Thu 24 Nov – Alisson plays 90 minutes, Fabinho unused for Brazil
Alisson played the entire 90 minutes despite competition from Ederson. Overall, a good display from the Liverpool shot stopper as he kept a clean sheet. Fabinho was on the bench and was unused.
Thu 24 Nov – Darwin Nunez plays 90 minutes for Uruguay
Darwin Nunez played the full match for Uruguay as they took on South Korea. It was an underwhelming performance and one that ended goalless.
Tue 22 Nov – Ibrahima Konate plays 90 minutes as France beat Australia
France are known for changing around their squad a lot but Ibrahima Konate played the full match in their World Cup opener. Didier Deschamps went for a back four and he was the preferred centre-back, playing the full ninety matches in France’s impressive 4-1 win, walking away injury free.
Mon 21 Nov – Virgil Van Dijk plays full match and picks up clean sheet
Netherlands kicked off their FIFA World Cup 2022 campaign against Senegal in fine fashion. They got a comfortable 2-0 win, with Virgil van Dijk playing the full 90 minutes and getting a well-earned clean sheet.
Mon 21 Nov – Trent and Henderson unused in England’s big opener
Much to the annoyance of Liverpool fans, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson were not featured at all in England’s 6-2 thrashing or Iran. This is despite the pair being regulars under Gareth Southgate prior to this tournament.
England face off in their next match against USA and in a quick turnaround, I would expect either Trent, Henderson or both to start in this match.
