#3) Poor team selection by Erik ten Hag

Brentford have always played three at the back and have used their strength/physicality to their advantage. Ten Hag started the game with a 4-3-3 with Fred in the defensive midfield role.

As Brentford started flooding the Red Devils’ midfield and defense, the Old Trafford outfit got stretched and succumbed to pressure. Also, Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbuemo won the battle against Lisandro Martinez, and Harry Maguire, which played a big role in the defensive errors.

The manager brought McTominay and Raphael Varane in for Fred and Lisandro in the second half. As a result of this change, the Manchester club could not only contain the pressure but also drive the ball ahead. Erik ten Hag paid the price for his wrong selection and tactics with a humiliating loss.
