2) Pedro Neto
Wolves, Midfielder, 5.5m

Pedro Neto was terrific for Wolves in the 2020/2021 season with 11 goal contributions in 31 appearances, however, his 2021/2022 season was cruelly cut short by a devastating injury. He only returned to action in the final third of the season and now has had a full pre-season under his belt.

Neto has managed 3 goals and 1 assist in 5 pre-season games so far

He had an xGI of 0.62 per 90 minutes last season but a large chunk of his appearances came off the bench. In the season before last, he was racking up around 0.4 xGI per 90 minutes.

He’s one of Wolves’ best players and is likely to have the safety of minutes as we head into a first full campaign with five subs. He appears to be on set-pieces for the Wanderers as well.

Raul Jimenez suffered an unfortunate injury in a pre-season game ruling him out of the first 1-2 months of the league campaign. While this will hinder them, it’ll be a challenge for Bruno Lage to make his front 3 work in this 4-3-3 that Wolves have played in pre-season.

Both Neto and Podence have got 3 goals and an assist in pre-season and are priced at 5.5m but set-plays and security of minutes has me leaning towards the former for a spot in my FPL team.
