Option #2: Presnel Kimpembe:

Negotiations have been ongoing between Tuchel’s team and Presnel Kimpembe. Paris Saint-Germain have asked for €60-65million to allow their defender to leave, whereas Chelsea are looking to pay around €45-50million.

At 26, Kimpembe has achieved an outstanding array of honours throughout his career. At international level, he became a FIFA World Cup winner with France in 2018 and a UEFA Nations League winner in 2021.

His time in Paris has been nothing short of a success; winning Ligue 1 five times, Coupe de France four times, Coupe de la Ligue four times, and Trophee des Champions on three occasions.

He worked under Tuchel throughout the German’s reign at PSG and so is already familiar with the manager’s style of play. The two tasted success together numerous times, meaning the French international could prove to be a more suitable option if he wants to reunite with his former coach.

On the pitch, Kimpembe is an expert at reading the game. Given PSG’s ability to dominate in attack, the centre-backs often find themselves pushing up the field to provide support for the attackers.

This means that the defenders have to be alert to stop any counter-attacks and track any opposition players from cresting danger. His ability to intercept, block and cover distance with his speed, makes him a trustworthy figure in any backline.
