Son ended last season as a man on fire. Over the last 8 games of the season, he was scoring at about 11 points per match, higher than any other player in the game.

He had a decent start to the season and if he starts in the same vein as he ended last season, he’s going to rival Salah for the armband.

Son had 7.4 points per match across all of last season. He notched 0.73 xGI per 90 last season. There’s also potential to give Son the armband in 3 of the first 6 gameweeks. While Kane’s role under Conte later morphed into a deeper role, Son thrived from this change.

His elite finishing ability, chance creation from open play, set-pieces and now likely being on direct free kicks, give him several avenues to points.

He’s now been priced as the second-most expensive player in the game but if he performs as he did towards the end of last season, he’ll comfortably be the second premium to own.
