Moment 5: Sadio Mane’s Debut Goal for Liverpool Against Arsenal

It was the year 2016, Mane had just joined Liverpool and they were gearing up for a tough opener against Arsenal. This is a day that will live long in the memory banks of Liverpool fans.

It was the first full season with Jurgen Klopp in charge at the club and the first we got to see of a new and improved squad challenging for the top spots.

The first game of the campaign for the Reds kicked off in North London with a duel against a tough Arsenal side at the Emirates. It was one of the most entertaining games of the season with seven goals scored between the two sides.

Mane applied the final blow for Liverpool that took all three points. His first for the season and his first goal in his Anfield career was a moment to remember forever. It was a goal that showcased what Scoucers were in for the remainder of Mane’s stay on Merseyside.

With a direct run from the right channel, some fancy footwork, a drop of the shoulder, a cut into the box, and a thumping finish into the top right-hand 90, Sadio Mane set the wheels in motion for one of the most successful Liverpool teams in the Premier League era.
