Liverpool have plans to bring in world-class Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund, but only next summer. And because of this, they will not entertain any talks for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is still a part of their plans for next season.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was one of several Liverpool outfielders on their way out of Anfield this summer transfer window. Somewhat understandable and a reasonable assessment, acknowledging the attack-minded midfielder has only made 29 appearances across all competitions last term.

Also, one would think this was normal taking his injury record into account. However, he was available for the whole season, not missing through any setback but rather because of falling down the pecking order and missing through selection, or lack thereof.

Adding further depth to the exit speculations, Chamberlain has one year left on his current deal and was rumoured to be available for around £10m, hence Manchester United’s interest in him about a week ago.

Now Liverpool Have Taken Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain off the Transfer Market

The Reds have no intentions of selling the Englishman as they wait and battle it out for Jude Bellingham, as stated above. They are set to go toe-to-toe with Real Madrid for die wunderkind, but both are working on a deal for next summer only.

Reports out of Germany believe BVB are not prepared to lose another worldly player this window, having lost the most promising number 9 on the planet, Erling Haaland, to Manchester City.

The reason Los Blancos and the Reds are so eager to finalise a deal now rather than later: they want to avoid a price hike after another season in the Bundesliga, as they assume he will perform at a high level consistently, adding value to his name.

"The Reds currently have no plans to sell Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer according to Anfield insiders. The England international is out of contract next summer and found himself out of favour during the second half of last season as Liverpool chased an unprecedented quadruple. As a result he has been linked with a transfer away from the club this summer. However, with the Reds putting plans to sign a new midfielder on hold until summer 2023, Oxlade-Chamberlain is expected to report back for pre-season on July 4 and remains part of Liverpool’s plans for the season ahead."

Five Substitutes Is a Game-Changer and Another Need for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Further playing into his favour at the club and another reason they feel he is best suited with a stay at Anfield is that Jurgen Klopp will use the new five-substitution rule to his full advantage. The one standout factor of last season’s quadruple run was his utilization of the entire squad available to him.

"With the Reds looking to defend their League Cup and FA Cup titles this year, as well as sides now being able to name five substitutions in matches in every competition, Oxlade-Chamberlain is considered a valuable member of the Liverpool squad who will have a part to play in multiple positions this season.(Via: liverpoolecho.co.uk)"

At 28 years old, soon to be 29, he has a lot to offer. We’ve seen him add some goals from outside the box and a player that offers some direct, running at the opposition football. An extra dynamic is always welcomed when the chips are down.

This will in return give him a chance to prove himself under Klopp and play a bigger role in their success this season coming. Not cashing in on £10m and keeping a midfielder of his experience at the club won’t hurt that much, especially if he is just keeping the seat warm at Anfield for a possible Bellingham transfer.
