Beginning with the Premier League candidate most closely linked to Raphinha, the likelihood of Arsenal investing significant resources into the acquisition of a wide player appeared bleak.

The Gunners’ winger room is one of strength with Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe vying for the two spots in Mikel Arteta’s 4-2-3-1 formation.

Record-signing Nicolas Pepe also remains, and his exit would be necessary before an incoming. Football.london report the Ivorian has changed agents to force a move.

Higher-ups at Emirates Stadium would have to bury their pride and accept losses on the £72m paid for Pepe if they were to sell.

Notwithstanding whether Arsenal would be best to focus their investment elsewhere, Raphinha would undoubtedly suit their fluid attacking system.

His creativity and elusive dribbling would add another string to Arteta’s eye-catching attacking unit but again the question arises; do they need him?

The North London side have already secured the signing of Porto midfielder Fabio Vieira for £30m plus £4m in add-ons and are thought to be nearing the signings of Leicester’s Youri Tielemans along with Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus.

Contrary to this line of thought, the Times understands Arsenal are preparing a bid of £50m for Raphinha.
