Erik Ten Hag Must Trust in the Youth

The exits of these players have helped in trimming the bloated squad from last season. The squad has a younger demographic and with Ten Hag’s track record of making youngsters better, there is an air of excitement.

Ten Hag also has options to choose from the talented academy graduates. Players like Hannibal Mejbri, Ethan Laird, James Garner and Alejandro Garnacho are exciting prospects to come out of the academy. United’s win in the recent FA Youth Cup also adds to the level of talent coming in.

United also have players returning from loan at different clubs across Europe

  • Amad Diallo returns from Rangers. The Ivorian had a productive spell at the Ibrox scoring thrice in 13 games. He won the Scottish Cup and went to the final of the UEFA Europa League under Gio van Bronckhorst.
  • Donny van de Beek will return from Everton. He struggled for game time and form under Ole Gunnar Solksjaer but could finally look to play under his former manager who unleashed him at Ajax.
  • Facundo Pellistri returns from a two-year loan stint from Alaves. Although the club may look to move him on.
  • James Garner and Ethan Laird return from Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth respectively; both players helping their respective clubs in getting them back to the Premier League.
