Cardiff City, who were last in the Premier League in the 2018/19 season, are looking to bring in both Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey to the club.

According to The Daily Telegraph“Cardiff City are poised to table an audacious offer for Gareth Bale” while Aaron Ramsey “is also being discussed as an outside possibility.”

Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey’s respective situations

Bale was born in Cardiff but began his career on the South Coast of England with Southampton before moving to Tottenham Hotspur and then Real Madrid. The Welsh winger is now a free agent after leaving Los Blancos at the end of last season.

Aaron Ramsey was born in Caerphilly (a town just north of the Welsh Capital) and began his career at Cardiff City before moving to Arsenal. He returned to the Welsh club on loan for one month in 2011 before returning to the Gunners. Since moving to Juventus, Ramsey has struggled for game time and had a mixed loan spell at Rangers in the second half of last season, where he missed a crucial penalty in the Europa League Final.

The two players starred for Wales as they got to the semi-finals of Euro 2016 and both played their part in qualifying for the World Cup in Qatar later this year with a victory over Ukraine on Sunday past. They both have had great international success but in recent years have missed a lot of club football.

Would a move to Cardiff City suit both Welshmen?

A move to Cardiff would excite the Bluebirds, who have not had a marquee signing since Craig Bellamy returned to the club in 2010; the club projected an image of the player on Cardiff Signing. Their marketing department would have their work cut out if either Bale or Ramsey made the move.

The Bluebirds’ current manager Steve Morrison is a former teammate of both players having played with them for Wales. Bale also owns the bar Elevens in Cardiff where players were seen celebrating their victory in the World Cup play-offs on Sunday.

"Cardiff City are ready to make contract offers to Wales heroes Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey, 90min can confirm. The 32-year-old’s focus has now switched to finding a new club for the 2022/23 season and sources have confirmed to 90min that Cardiff are ready to make an audacious approach for Bale. While the wages on offer in the Championship are nowhere near the £600,000 per week that Bale took home at Real, he is understood to be prepared to take a significant pay cut to join his next club.As well as Bale, Cardiff are prepared to throw their hat in the ring for Ramsey, another Welsh star who could be on the move this summer.A move for Ramsey, who came through the Cardiff academy, is complicated by the fact that he still has 12 months remaining on his contract with Juventus, but the Serie A side are expected to do what they can to part ways with Ramsey this summer and could make him available on a free transfer. The current number 11 shirt at Cardiff belongs to Josh Murphy, who was sent on loan to Preston North End last season. If the club signs Bale, the #11 will no doubt have to be relinquished to the star player.

Cardiff finished last season in 18th place in the Championship and suffered two defeats to Swansea who became the first club to do the double in the South Wales derby. They are in need of a lift and some big signings could be that lift.

Bale and Ramsey would without a doubt improve this current Cardiff team and improve their league finish from last season. If these moves do happen maybe we will see them in the play-offs or promotion places and potentially back in the Premier League.
