According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Spurs and Chelsea are both interested in signing Croatian winger Ivan Perisic. The 33-year-old has a huge decision to make with Inter Milan also pushing to pin him down to a new deal.
Perisic will see his contract with Inter Milan expire in the upcoming summer transfer window with Chelsea, Tottenham and Juventus interested. Juventus however, are currently focused on bringing in Paul Pogba and Angel Di Maria from Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain, respectively.
It comes as no surprise that the Nerazzurri are determined to tie Ivan Perisic down to a new deal considering how phenomenal he has been this season. Romano has also confirmed that the Serie A side have improved their proposal to a €5million net salary per season guaranteed, which would rise if certain add ons are fulfilled in the future.
"Nothing has changed for Ivan Perisić. He’s gonna decide his future soon with Inter new contract proposal on the table, but also Tottenham and Chelsea both interested as his deal runs out in June. Juventus are focused on Paul Pogba and Ángel Di Maria, as of now.(Via: @FabrizioRomano)"
Why are Spurs and Chelsea Interested in Ivan Perisic?
Perisic has been on the radar of Premier League clubs since Jose Mourinho wanted him at Old Trafford back in 2018. He has since gone on to win 6 titles with Bayern Munich and Inter Milan. Perisic has scored 8 goals and provided 7 assists this past season.
It is possible that a reunion with former Inter Milan manager, Antonio Conte, is on the cards. Ryan Sessegnon and Sergio Reguilon have both endured injury-ridden campaigns. Signing a proven winner like Ivan Perisic could be all they need to finally start challenging for top honours next season.
Perisic has showcased this term and many times before that he is capable of playing as a left-winger and as a left wing-back. Chelsea has had a terrible run with constant injuries, especially to England international Ben Chilwell, which has hampered this season’s progress.
Add to the fact Chelsea’s wingers have also been unable able to elevate their performances, signing Ivan Perisic on a free could be an attractive prospect for Thomas Tuchel.
The new owners, the Todd Boehly-led consortium, have promised the manager a hefty £200m war chest for this summer’s transfer plans. They will be looking to add more firepower up top and more depth at the back.
