Can Brentford’s Better Their Magical Run?

Brentford finished mid-table in their first Premier League season. The onus will remain on the manager to keep the side in the top flight for consecutive seasons with many promoted clubs struggling to do the same.

For instance, Sheffield United finished ninth in 2019/20 but failed to keep their place in the top flight in 2020/21. The Blades failed to address key issues in their squad during the summer window ahead of 2020/21 and got relegated. Brentford will want to avoid the same fate.

They have played with two strikers up front for most of the season and lacked pace on the flanks. Also, they signed Christian Eriksen in winter to address the creativity issues. Sadly, the Denmark international’s contract will expire with him garnering interest from other Premier League clubs and abroad. They have not given up hope on retaining his services.

Transfer pundits have linked the Bees to Kean Lewis-Potter (LW) from Hull City and Joe Aribo from Rangers. Joe Aribo is a versatile midfielder who predominantly plays as a central midfielder but can feature as a creative midfielder and as a right-winger too.

If Brentford are looking to extend its stay in the top flight, they have to spend wisely in an inflated market. It will be interesting to see how the Bees approach the summer and how easily they will pull off deals.
