Sadio Mane and his future at Liverpool has far from been the discussion this season and with the player reaching the final stages of his contract in June 2023, the question begs: will the Reds extend his stay or cash in with Bayern Munich rumored to be an interested party?
With Mohamed Salah’s current deal under revision and stealing all the headlines, Sadio Mane’s future at Anfield has somewhat taken a backseat. This is one of the main reasons why he is annoyed with the Merseyside club. He is frustrated that they have made Salah a priority over him.
The African with the most goals in a knockout phase of a Champions League tournament has now become part of the conversation over in Germany.
As stated by Sky Sports: the player’s agent and Bayern sporting director, Hasan Salihamidzic, met over the weekend past. Although Mane’s name was brought up, no concrete talks over a transfer have taken place between the pair of clubs, and everything remains an idea at the moment.
"Bayern Munich are interested in signing Liverpool forward Sadio Mane this summer, according to Sky Germany. While there has been no official dialogue between the two clubs, Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic met the 30-year-old’s agent over the weekend. The Senegal international is under contract until 2023, but talks over a possible new deal have been difficult and reports suggest Mane is unhappy Mohamed Salah’s contract talks have taken priority at Anfield. Growing speculations on Sadio Mane’s departure from Liverpool
Added to the growing speculations, the German champions are having their own trouble in trying to tie down one of their top talents, Serge Gnabry, to a new deal with the club. This has led some outlets to believe that a swap deal between Liverpool and Bayern Munich for Mane and Gnabry could be on the cards.
That rumor has however been squashed by conflicting reports that suggest the Reds and Mane will reopen talks, and start renegotiating a new deal before the summer window opens. The club also remains calm over the situation and feels there is no real threat in the news that Sadio could leave Anfield for a new club.
Liverpool concentrated on finishing the season strong
At the moment, Mane, Salah, and the Reds are more focused on what silverware they can still get their hands on. Up next for Jurgen Klopp and his boys is a trip to Villa Park where they take on Aston Villa.
The man in discussion loves a goal against Villa; Mane has scored eight times against Steven Gerrard’s side, four of his eight goals coming while playing for Liverpool. Hopefully, he can be on target again later this evening as they look to apply some type of pressure on the free-scoring Manchester City.
A win and they can go level on points. Depending on the goals scored and conceded in the game, it will determine if they go on top or stay second.
