Mo Salah: ‘I want to stay at Liverpool for the foreseeable’

Mohamed Salah intends to sign a new deal at Liverpool, according to Egypt’s sports minister Ashraf Sobhi.

Salah, 29, say’s he is likely to sign an extension, with his current deal running until June 2023.

Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp, believes a deal between the club and player is progressing well, and he was ‘happy’ with the progress.

"“The decisive parties are talking to each other and that’s all I need,” Klopp said."

Despite stating he now wants to stay at Liverpool, Salah was sceptical about his future in January, and said his future was up to the club.

"“They know what I want. I’m not asking for crazy stuff,” he told GQ.“The administration have [been] told the situation. It’s in their hands.”"

The Egyptian international captain is regarded as one of the best players in the world, with teams like Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain, all showing interest when the issue of his contract came to the forefront.

Reports claim that the forward is close to agreeing a new four-year-deal, worth around £400,000 per week, apparently compromising on his wage demands for a longer length in contract.

Since arriving from AS Roma in 2017, for £40 million, Salah has 153 goals in 240 appearances for Liverpool, helping them to a UEFA Champions League and a Premier League title.
