A deal needed to be completed by Manchester United
Despite the promise shown by the 19-year-old, time on the pitch was always going to be hard to come by at Man United. The Red Devils went into the campaign two new attackers heavy with Jadon Sancho arriving from Borrusia Dortmund and Christanio Ronaldo returning from Juventus.
Both were always going to be options ahead of Diallo and with other big hitters in the team already such as Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, and Edinson Cavani, Amad has been restricted to just one start — and that was in the Champions League — he hasn’t made a single appearance in the Premier League or FA Cup.
Since making the switch from Atalanta back in 2021 in a €21 million plus another €20m in add-ons deal, the Ivorian has only made five senior appearances. He has scored no goals and only has one assist to count for in English top-flight football.
However, his time in the PL2 — Div. 1 has seen a far better return in five games played; he has scored six and assisted four for the United reserves. He certainly does have the potential to be a superstar but regular minutes are required.
Rangers also offer Amad Diallo European football with them advancing through to the knockout stages of the Europa League — their next opponents will be Bundesliga outfit, Dortmund.
