Compared to Callum Wilson

Callum Wilson likely remains the first-choice striker when fit. Over the past year, his npxG numbers stack up similarly to Chris Wood but his non-penalty goal output is greater per 90.

He’s also seemingly better at carrying the ball forward, dribbling and creating for teammates but lacks in the aerial duel department in comparison.

However, the issue with Wilson is his injury record and ability to stay fit and get consistent minutes. He’s currently suffered an injury ruling him out for 8 weeks, making it imperative that a striker be brought in to provide goals that can take the team to safety from where they can build in the summer.

Given their differing styles, Wilson and Wood can play as a two-man strike force in tandem with one another, which is another option from the start or off the bench for Eddie Howe when both his forwards are fit.
