Newcastle United took a valuable point away from their 1-1 draw with Manchester United but may have lost their talisman in the process. Callum Wilson exited the match in the first half due to a calf injury that manager Eddie Howe said could keep him out “for months”.

The loss of Wilson leaves the club in a difficult position. Newcastle thought they could focus on their leaky defense in January, with the club rumored with players such as Sven Botman, James Tarkowski, and Kieran Trippier in recent weeks.

However, plans have changed, as the club does not have a center-forward with the quality of Wilson. Joelinton seems to have found a new role under Eddie Howe and has never proven to be a reliable goalscorer at St. James Park. Dwight Gayle is another in-house option, but surely the Magpies need a better prospect.

With the club facing possible relegation, the club will need to actively be searching for a replacement in the January transfer window. Because of this looming threat, a loan move for a top striker would likely be on the table.

Here are three possible options to replace Callum Wilson in the January transfer window.
