Odion Ighalo, Al Shabab

While Odion Ighalo may not be the most exciting option for Newcastle, the former Manchester United and Watford striker may be a more realistic target than the other names being linked to the club.

The 32-year-old striker has had a successful run for Al Shabab in the Saudi Pro League, as he currently sits as the top scorer in the competition.

Ighalo is said to be interested in a return to England. However, there are concerns about his current fitness and ability to score in the Premier League.

If the worst were to happen to Newcastle, Ighalo could also be a quality option in the Championship. He scored 20 goals in his one Championship season for Watford, although that was back in the 2014-15 campaign.

If Callum Wilson’s absence is not as long as many fear, Ighalo could provide depth for Newcastle, and for a team with few options up front, which could be key as the season progresses.
