Gabriel Barbosa, Flamengo

Gabriel Barbosa, or “Gabigol”, was never able to find his footing at Inter Milan. However, since he arrived at Flamengo in Brazil, he has been one of the top players on the continent and may be looking to return to European football.

Gabigol scored 29 goals in all competitions last season for Flamengo and is a regular performer for the Brazilian National Team. Newcastle have scouted Barbosa for multiple years, and the timing may be right for the move.

Barbosa could instantly make an impact at St. James’ Park. His goal-scoring ability is unquestioned, and his ability to poach goals is just what Eddie Howe needs to replace Wilson.

Any arrangement with Flamengo is likely to be a loan, with a rumored £17million option to buy if the Magpies were to survive this season.

The Brazilian striker appears to be ready to give Europe another shot after a highly successful stint with the Brazilian outfit. The Tyneside project could be the platform for Gabigol to showcase his talents.
