Chelsea’s repeated pattern

Chelsea are a side that boasts immense quality and depth across every position on the pitch allowing the tactically astute, Thomas Tuchel, to pick the best option for a given game plan and situation from those at his disposal.

Feels strange to say for a team that ended the season as European Champions but their struggles to create and mainly to convert their chances last season was a recurring theme across their previous campaign.

In an attempt to rectify this, they went out and bought Romelu Lukaku fresh off the best season of his career and as you’d expect, a lot of their play and threat will involve the impressive Belgian striker.

It’s expected that they will continue to line up in their regular 3-4-3 setup and Timo Werner’s impressive showing in the last league game, coupled with goalscoring form for Germany in the International break, should have him favourite to line up alongside Lukaku and the essential Mason Mount in their front 3.

Reece James and N’golo Kante continue their recoveries and with a busy part of the season imminent, I’d be surprised to see either player rushed back to start this weekend.
