Ruben Dias (Manchester City) – £6.1m

It should not be a surprise that we are doubling up on Manchester City defenders. Since his arrival last season, Dias has barely missed a game of football for City — and has also been known to be one of Pep’s most nailed on starters, alongside Ederson.

Irrespective of their relatively tough run of opening fixtures, City have done extremely well in defence — keeping 5 clean sheets in the first 7 matches. This has been a reminder to all FPL managers that City have a world-class defence and are fixture proof in most regards.

Another positive of doubling up on City defenders is the fact that they only face a ‘big 6’ team once from now until GW20. Therefore, both Cancelo and Dias can remain in our teams as long-term picks.
