Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea) – £11.6m

Despite all eyes being on Ronaldo this week, Lukaku matched him with 2 goals of his own against Aston Villa. The only difference between Lukaku and Ronaldo’s performances was that Lukaku took his chances very clinically – managing his brace from just 2 shots on goal for a 100% conversion rate.

In FPL, Lukaku also equalled Ronaldo’s tally of 13 points – also managing 3 bonus points himself. If Lukaku can continue taking his chances in such an efficient way, he will become a must-own player in no time.

However, bringing in both Ronaldo and Lukaku is a somewhat questionable move. I am against it for the time being, as it tends to destroy your team balance – especially if you also have other premium assets such as Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold in your team.

So the question now is, would you rather own Ronaldo or Lukaku? For me – it has to be Ronaldo – at least for the time being. With Chelsea up against Tottenham and Manchester City in their next 2 fixtures, it does not feel like the ideal time to bring in the Belgian.

When the fixtures turn green in GW7, this presents the optimal time to bring in Lukaku. However, for the next 2 fixtures, I will be reluctantly avoiding him.
