FPL GW1 Captain Picks – The Premier League is Back!
By Vibudh Dixit
#1 Mohamed Salah vs Norwich (A):
When the fixtures were released and I saw that Liverpool play Norwich in GW1, I knew that he was more or less locked in as my GW1 barring something unexpected.
While I have made countless changes to my draft, I’ve had my armband all along on this man and I’m pretty sure that many of you can relate to this.
You don’t get fixtures better than this, Norwich have 9% clean sheets odds, according to @drafthound, which is the lowest in the league for GW1.
Adding to the fact that Norwich have had an irregular and disrupted preseason marred by cancellations makes it an easy choice for me.
There has also been a belief that Salah could possibly become a worse asset with Robertson set to be sidelined at least for a couple of weeks.
This thread by @FPL_Nitesh shows that Salah shouldn’t be impacted too much by Robertson’s absence.
I just can’t see any other reasons to not trust Salah. There are players who are consistent, there are players who are explosive, and then there is Salah who is consistently explosive.
He has proven himself enough over the last few seasons for us to trust him with the armband in a fixture like this.
