Pierluigi Gollini will join Tottenham Hotspur from Atalanta this summer in a loan deal. Reports suggest the stopper is in the final stages of completing the transfer with a portion of the medical already completed.

Following the loan deal from the Serie A club, Spurs have the option to make the move a permanent one; it is an obligation to buy but only on the condition Gollini achieves 20 caps in his time in North London. The fee apparently will be £15m if he stays and he reaches this feat.

More from Tottenham Hotspur

Sky Sports have confirmed COVID restrictions are the reason part of his medical has been completed prior to him arriving in London to wrap up the finer details.

The goalkeeper comes in as back-up to Hugo Lloris – well, that’s for now. There have been plenty of talks about a possible Lloris exit and this could be the first card played in the exit plans of the French stopper.

Pierluigi Gollini ends a five-season stay at Atalanta. He made 89 Serie A starts for them. This will be his third stint in England having already spent time with Manchester United in the youth system and with Aston Villa in the 2016-17 Championship campaign where he made 20 appearances.

Pierluigi Gollini is one of two new signings set to be completed this week

One of the two between, Pierluigi Gollini or Bryan Gil, will be named as the first summer arrival. Both are in advance stages in the respective deals, with one said to be done and dusted and the other almost concluded.

The deal for Bryan Gil sees the Spurs lose Argentine attacker, Erik Lamela, to Sevilla – the La Liga outfit will receive Lamela plus €25m for their rising star, Gil.
