Manchester United and Dortmund publicise Jadon Sancho deal
Jadon Sancho is a Manchester United player finally after both, United and Borussia Dortmund, have agreed on a fixed fee reported to be £85 million.
One of the longest transfer sagas of recent times has permanently concluded – all that is left now for Manchester United to do is complete the player’s medical and the signing of his contract – it will all be completed once Jadon Sancho returns from his involvement at Euro 2020 with England.

Manchester United’s most important signing is done and dusted
Once he returns from his international duty and all of the last bits are done accordingly, medical and signing of his contract, he will pen a deal that sees him stay at Old Trafford until 2026 – a contract length of five years.
In the same breath, it takes him to the top of Man United’s best-paid players’ list at the club. Only David de Gea will earn more than him with a £375,000-per-week salary while Jadon Sancho will earn £250,000 per week, which sees him net £13m per year.
It has taken the Red Devils a year or so to get this deal over the line – but their patients have come with a positive. If they had rushed and caved into Borussia Dortmund’s demands, they would have paid an extra €23m for Sancho.
The initial asking price during a pandemic struck market was set at around €108 million. BVB were reluctant to budge on their valuation while United were unwilling to meet their demands.
One could understand Dortmunds stance, seeing Jadon had his best two runs, back-to-back, in his senior career; in 2018/2019 he scored 12 and assisted 14, and in the following campaign he managed to go one better, scoring 17 goals while collecting 16 assists.
The only negative coming from this fascinating breakthrough in the long and ongoing Sancho sage is that United’s foes, Manchester City, will coin £11.2 million from the deal, having added a 15% sell-on clause.
With only a year left on his current deal with Dortmund, the club was wary they could lose him on a free while having a despondent and unhappy player in the ranks. This is the reason business had to be concluded between the English club and Germany club.
Following the signing of Sancho, Manchester United will continue to chip away in the transfer market. Word has it; a defender signing, midfielder, and striker could still all join the Old Trafford side this summer.
