Emiliano Martínez – Aston Villa

Emi Martinez is among the players that shocked us the most this season in the Premier League. Martínez spent many seasons being loaned out by Arsenal to different clubs until he finally got transferred and got a real shot with a Premier League team.

He did a fantastic job with Aston Villa this season where he ended up being the goalkeeper with the third-most saves (135) and the third-highest number of clean-sheets (15). If it wasn’t for Emi, The Lions would’ve had a very tough season.

Now, he will be in his first major tournament with Argentina and most likely would be Scaloni’s first choice for the spot because of his good performances.

Giovani Lo Celso – Tottenham

Lo Celso joined Tottenham in the 2019-2020 season as one of the brightest upcoming stars in the world of football but he hasn’t been able to prove that since. He did not play much this season for Tottenham. He only featured in 18 games where he started 11. He scored only one goal and assisted another.

Even though he had an average season, it was enough to be in Scaloni’s squad for this edition of Copa America, where he will probably come on as a substitute to help La Albiceleste in their everlasting hunt for the trophy.

Emiliano Buendía – Norwich City

Buendía was one of the main factors that got Norwich City promoted to the Premier League for next season. He played 39 games in the Championship scoring 15 goals and assisting 15. He was the player with the most assists in the Championship.

Because of his amazing performances all year, Scaloni decided to include the 24 years old in his squad, being Buendia’s first major tournament with Argentina. The new Aston Villa signing will probably have a similar role to Lo Celso, coming off the bench.
