West Ham United are off the mark with their first summer business
West Ham and Chelsea have agreed to a deal for the transfer of midfielder Pierre Ekwah – the announcement will happen on Wednesday as soon as the summer window officially opens, according to reports.
West Ham are looking to wrap up all their business early this summer and get to their preseason activity as quickly as possible. This due to their European inclusion and wanting to improve on last season’s fantastic run and finish in sixth place.
The Hammers were said to have started following the youngster after his under-23 performances, becoming big admirers of the midfielder in his time playing for them and Chelsea.

The 2021/2022 Premier League could be Pierre Ekwah breakout campaign
At 16-years-old, Pierre Ekwah was transferred from French side Nantes back in 2018. He featured only in the U23’s for the Blues and never made it to the big stage, the English Premier League.
Despite not being introduced to the English top-flight he is still seen as a promising youngster with loads of potential and many believe he is destined for great things.

During his time in the reserves, he played six games for Chelsea and two for West Ham – he scored his first and only PL2 – Div. 1 goal in one of the two West Ham games.
His ability to play on both sides and operate in multiple positions from the midfield to the backline is seen as a major asset to the East London club. At the age of 19 now, he will certainly start off as backup or even in the Hammers reserve.
However, rated so highly by many, he could enjoy a breakout season under David Moyes as the East London club looks to leave their footprint on the European stage and domestically.

Moyes has continuously complained about the lack of quality in depth and reiterated how thin his squad is. Many priorities for the Hammers to sort out before the season kicks off.
