Manchester United are in the hunt for another great striker so that they are able to compete for the Premier League title next season. They fell way short this season, and are active in the transfer market already to try and change that.

There have been rumours all year about them being interested in signing Harry Kane from Tottenham.

But now, reports have emerged saying that Manchester United are also keeping tabs on Southampton’s Danny Ings. According to The Telegraph, they have enquired about the English striker.

They are still very much interested in signing Harry Kane, but there have been various reports that have said that Manchester City have leapfrogged them in the race to sign the England captain.

While they’re not giving up on the striker, they are certainly looking at alternatives in case it doesn’t work out for them.

Danny Ings has had a great

couple of seasons

at Southampton. He has quietly had a very consistent scoring run in these

two seasons

, scoring 41 goals in total.

According to the report, Tottenham and Manchester City are also keeping tabs on Ings.

Who helps Manchester United more – Harry Kane or Danny Ings?

Now if you talk in a tactical sense, Harry Kane and Danny Ings are two very different players. But, both of them help Manchester United in a lot of ways.

While Harry Kane is probably the best in the world in his position at linking up and creating plays for others, Ings is slightly more traditional. Just get him the ball, he’ll do the rest.

If you ask who actually helps the team more, then the answer is probably clear as day. Danny Ings is one of the best strikers in the Premier League, but Harry Kane is one of the best strikers in the world.

More from Manchester United

Kane’s so good at what he does, and so consistent with how he does it. It’d be foolish for Manchester United to not try and sign him.

He would be so good for their system because Manchester United have a lot of great scorers in the team.

The likes of Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani would have a great time with Harry Kane — particularly the latter because of how good he is when he has strikers to feed off of.

Cavani would be able to do so well with Harry Kane alongside him. His future isn’t in doubt either, because he recently signed a contract extension with the club.

But, if Kane not available to sign, or he has already signed for another club, then Danny Ings would be a great player to have as well. I’m not sure if he fits into the system as well as Kane, but he’s still a great option in my opinion.
