Manchester United are looking to make a few changes to their squad for the next season so that they can go from finishing at 2nd place in the Premier League table, to actually challenge for the title properly.

They’re currently 10 points behind Premier League champions Manchester City, having played a game more. They haven’t really lost many games but they have drawn a few winnable ones.

Even though they’re second place, they still are quite far off from being title challengers.

Manchester United have now lost two games in a row in what was a very very tight schedule for them because of their game against Liverpool being postponed due to fan protests.

They lost the game against Liverpool, and it was a true indication of the fact that they’re not quite challengers for the title just yet. To do that they need some reinforcements. Reportedly, Marcos Llorente is one of them.

How high are Manchester United’s chances of actually signing Llorente?

According to AS, Manchester United have bid on Atletico midfielder Marcos Llorente for around 80 million euros.

If you don’t know much about the player, you’re probably living under a rock or something! Marcos Llorente has been a revelation this season.

He went from being just a backup CDM at Real Madrid two years ago to being one of the stars at Atletico Madrid and has been crucial in their bid for the title so far.

Diego Simeone completely changed his playing style and used his athleticism, pace and explosiveness very well. He now plays more as a wide midfielder, and roams around in the attacking third.

He also provides some defensive stability when Atletico are sitting back, and helps with overloads from opposition full-backs.

Llorente has 13 goals and 12 assists for Atletico across all competitions this season. He’s honestly been an amazing asset for the Rojiblancos.

I’ve been watching the guy for a few years now, and if you had asked me back then if this is the version of Llorente that’s going to “blow up”, I would’ve probably laughed at you.

Anyway, according to said report, Marcos Llorente is very happy at Atletico and doesn’t really want to move to any other club.

The same really goes for Atletico as well, but Manchester United’s offer was too good to not even consider, according to said report. The Rojiblancos are tempted to accept it but it all depends on the player himself if he’s willing to move or not.

Manchester United do want to improve their squad, and if this report is true and they manage to persuade Llorente into signing for them, they would be so much closer to success. He’s one of the most versatile players in Europe right now and he would help Manchester United a lot.

But, looking at the report, I don’t think Llorente really wants this move just yet. He’s enjoying life in Madrid.
