Leicester City have had a resurgence under Brendan Rodgers. They were 3rd on the Premier League table for the longest time until they lost their game against Newcastle and Chelsea won theirs against Manchester City.

Now, they find themselves fourth on the table, which is still not bad at all for a club that’s historically been out of the “traditional top six”.

The Foxes have worked really hard and have somewhat gotten back to their best after losing stars like Riyad Mahrez and N’golo Kante after winning the Premier League title in 2016.

But they don’t plan to stop here: They’re looking for new players that would strengthen the squad for the present and future, and are set to complete the signing of this one man from Lille — Boubakary Soumaré.

How good has Soumare been this season? Will he be of any help to Leicester?

Leicester have reportedly been interested in signing the French international since February of this year, and it seems like they have finally gotten their man, according to tweets from Fabrizio Romano.

More from Leicester City

Soumaré has had a great season at Lille. He has played 30 games for the club in the league, and has started 19 of them. In all competitions, he has started 26 games out of the 41 he has featured in.

It took him a little while to really start showing the club how good he is, but has started to get starts more regularly towards the business end of the season.

Soumare has started 16 out of the last 20 games for the club, and has proved to be a great asset for the team that is currently on course to win their first league title in 10 years.

Lille are ahead of second-placed PSG by three points with just two games left in the league.  They look to be only the second team in nine years to dethrone PSG.

Soumaré has had a good part to play in that run. He’s been reliable whenever called upon. The midfielder has been in great form especially as of late. That’s why he has attracted interest from clubs like Leicester.

He averages an 86.4% completion rate on 73.3 passes per game. He averages 2.24 tackles per game, 1.81 interceptions per game and 12.7 presses per game. He’s a player that would definitely help Leicester in the short as well as the long run, being only 22 years old.
