It still feels almost surreal to say that Leicester City are still, on the 35th matchday, in the top four spots, and quite comfortably in there as well. I’m still surprised even after watching this team win the Premier League against all odds a few years ago.

But, they have put themselves in a bit of a pickle now. On Friday, Leicester got stunned by lowly Newcastle United 4-2 at home.

How is it looking for Leicester’s top four chances? How close to them are nearby teams on the table?

This loss has given Chelsea a huge chance to climb to the third spot in the Premier League table. They’re just two points behind Leicester and have a game in hand — although that game is against Champions-elect Manchester City.

Chelsea isn’t a club you can take lightly anymore. They are now in the FA Cup final (against Leicester City) and in the Champions League final, after finding some great form under Thomas Tuchel.

Moreover, Chelsea and Leicester are to play against each other in the Premier League after their FA Cup final as well.

The Foxes should also be worried about West Ham United. They’ve had a revolutionary season and they’ve looked really, really good. They went from fighting for survival in the league last season to actually competing for the top four spots.

More from Leicester City

It’s not exactly an easy schedule for Leicester. After this loss, they have three Premier League games left, with an FA Cup final to be played in between two of those games.

They face Manchester United next, then have two games against Chelsea — the first one being the FA Cup final and the other being for the Premier League. And on the final matchday, they play Tottenham — another team hoping to make it into European competitions next season.

Chelsea’s schedule is still difficult, but is easier than Leicester’s. West Ham’s got it the easiest for them, at least on paper.

Now, if Chelsea and West Ham are to win their games this matchday, that would leave Leicester City right in the middle of two teams. They’d be a point behind Chelsea and just two above West Ham.

The top four race is looking very tight in the Premier League, and it’ll be great to see which teams go through.

This win would’ve been crucial for Leicester, but now they find themselves in trouble.
