Manchester United are enjoying one of their best seasons in recent times. They are heading towards a second consecutive top-four finish in the English Premier League. Ole Gunnar-Solskjaer has “revived” a few players as well, especially full-back Luke Shaw, who’s having a great season.

The club advanced to the Europa League final despite a poor second-half show at Stadio Olimpico against Roma on Thursday, winning 8-6 on aggregate.

The fans are given one more reason to be brimming with joy: The management is reportedly looking to extend the contract of one of their key players. No points for guessing who that might be.

Manchester United’s Luke Shaw may be getting a contract extension soon, as per Fabrizio Romano

Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano broke out with the news on Friday about the possible extension for Luke Shaw.

The tweet is about Edinson Cavani’s potential contract extension, but the journalist mentioned Luke Shaw’s contract news as well. Luke Shaw’s contract runs till the summer of 2023:

"Manchester United are working to extend Cavani’s contract as priority – the club is still ‘confident’ to complete the agreement soon, it’s up to Edinson.  #MUFC Man Utd are also planning to offer Luke Shaw a new contract. The negotiations could start in the next weeks.(Via: Twitter)"

More from Manchester United

Luke Shaw has been a revelation since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over at the club. The full-back won the Player’s Player of the Year in 2018/19 but injuries caused him a lot of trouble in the 2019/20 season.

Brandon Williams’ gutsy performances in the absence of Luke Shaw made the young full-back a firm fan favorite last season. However, Shaw made a strong comeback in the 2020/21 season.

He is one of the major reasons behind Manchester United’s great performances this season. The Englishman has been one of their best players.

The story of the left-back is inspiring. Luke Shaw picked himself up from the career-threatening injury against PSV Eindhoven in 2015 and has re-established himself as a starter for his dream club, Manchester United.

The left-back has featured in 29 games out of 33 top-flight games and has 6 G/A to his name. Shaw has contributed to the team both in offense and defense, fighting off all his competition.

His ball-carrying ability is quite an underrated trait as well: He has carried the ball 85 times into the final third this season in the Premier League.

These performances have not only warranted his selection but also a new contract as well.
