Varane faces dilemma – Real Madrid, PSG or Manchester United?
Raphael Varane has been one of Real Madrid’s most important players for quite some time, and is someone that Manchester United have been interested in for a long time now. There have been reports every now and again about Manchester United being interested in purchasing Raphael Varane.
Now, amidst the whole contract situation for the French centre back, he is also considering a move away from Real Madrid. According to this report from AS, Raphael Varane is thinking about two European powerhouses that are interested in his services — one is in his home country France, while the other is a new challenge, a new language and a new culture — in England.
What is Varane’s contract situation? Is he willing to move to Manchester United? Which other clubs are interested?
The report states that Varane faces a dilemma between re-signing with Madrid, going to Paris or shifting base to Manchester.
Varane’s performances and, of course, his contract situation has caused many top European clubs, including English clubs like Liverpool and Chelsea to look at him as an option. He’s easily one of the best centre-backs in the world, and has been in fine form throughout the season.

As Florentino Perez and Varane have said in recent interviews, the situation regarding the Frenchman’s contract is far from resolved. But, Varane says that his future is ‘clear’ and he just wants to focus on what’s on hand right now for the club.
The report also states that an exit is likely for Varane because of the rumoured signing of Alaba, and Militao’s amazing performances as of late. Manchester United would surely be all ears right now, as they have been looking for a top-class centre-back to really take them to the next level.
If you look at Manchester United’s team sheet, the centre-back position is the one area with the least amount of quality. Not taking anything away from the likes of Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly (who recently signed a contract extension with the Red Devils), but they’re not exactly world-class centre-backs. Varane? He is.
Raphael Varane has been exceptional for club and country for the majority of the last six years, winning four Champions League titles, two league titles among other trophies with Real Madrid, and the World Cup with France. If Manchester United are able to beat their competition that is PSG (which isn’t an easy task), then they’re looking at a player that can truly make them a world-class team.
