(3) Bruno Fernandes  – 16 Goals

As the only midfielder on this list, Bruno Fernandes is definitely a long shot at winning the Golden Boot award compared to the previous two mentioned candidates.

Still, his ability to take advantage of free kicks and penalties makes him a contender worth discussing.

Eight of Fernades’ 16 goals have come from the penalty spot this season. Expect that number to continue to go up as Manchester United is ranked second in penalties received this season with nine.

Fernandes’ biggest obstacle on his chase for the Golden Boot award will be Manchester United’s schedule to end the season. The Red Devils’ final opponents average of 1.41 points per game.

Projected goal total

Bruno Fernandes has 0.55 goals per 90 minutes. Using the same formula we have used for the first two payers, of multiplying his goals per 90 by the remaining minutes he is eligible to play, we predict that Fernandes will finish off with 22.85 goals.

He is projected to score 3.85 goals in his next few games.
