Moise Kean has had a pretty good season for PSG, scoring 12 goals in 22 games in Ligue 1, amassing more than 1500 minutes for the club. It’s not been the best season he would’ve hoped for but it’s certainly infinite times better than his short stint at Everton — a club that bought him for 27 million in 2019 and then loaned him out after seeing him play for only 15 minutes across two cameos off the bench.

Moise Kean must’ve been poised to prove Everton wrong after PSG offered a loan opportunity, and it gave him the chance to play some European football as well. Kean did well, and now, said to Sky Sports, that he didn’t exactly enjoy his time at Everton because he didn’t play much.

He says Pochettino believes in him and the Italian international indicates his intention to stay at the club, because of the lack of minutes he got at Everton. The same report also says that PSG are working to sign him permanently in the summer.

Does it make sense for the Everton loanee to stay at PSG?

Kean has proved to be a good deputy in attack whenever the stars/superstars are missing/not performing. He’s started 20 out of 32 games in the league and has played a few Champions League games as well.

More from Everton

Look at it this way, PSG permanently signing Kean offers him more playing time, he gets to play in the Champions League and gets to fight for titles in France. While they won’t be English titles, I think he’d take that over not playing at all. Everton aren’t exactly title contenders in the Premier League either, and they haven’t even finished in Champions League spots in a long time.

So, in that way, it makes much more sense for him to stay at PSG. At Everton, Calvert-Lewin is having a great time, he’s one of the top five scorers in the Premier League and is a vital cog — and probably the most vital one — in the attack.

It would be very difficult for Moise Kean to start over him if he were to go back, and as we’ve seen from Carlo Ancelotti’s rotations in the past, he likes his important players to play as much as possible. We’ve seen with the likes of Lucas Digne, Richarlison and others. Ancelotti didn’t want him at the club and now he’s playing very well elsewhere. Seems fair for him to stay at that place.

As we all know, Fabrizio Romano is a very reliable journalist, and what he’s saying must be true to an extent, at least. Kean is obviously talented and too good to be wasted on the bench. Unless Everton are able to offer him some guaranteed playing time, I don’t really see him going back to the Merseyside.
