FPL Captain Pick #2 Son Heung-Min vs Everton (A), Southampton (H)

Talking about reverse fixtures, Son was on the scoresheet four times for Tottenham in the reverse fixture against Southampton as Spurs’ hit the Saints’ for 5, exploiting their high line to the fullest.

While Spurs are not the same attacking force at the moment and are heavily dependent on Harry Kane, Southampton look just as vulnerable and seem to be really struggling defensively.

Everton is never an easy fixture but their defence has been disappointing lately so you would expect Spurs to grab a goal or two in that game as well. While Son is an excellent option for this week in isolation, I’m not too sure about captaining him if you have the option to go for Harry Kane.

What Son does have in his favour is the potential for an extra clean sheet point in each game and extra points for scoring a goal being a midfielder. There might be GW’s (as we saw last week) where Son might get a return and Kane blanks but is quite hard to predict them.

More often than not, if Son is involved in a Spurs’ goal, Kane is as well. However, it is hard to say the same thing the other way round.

I’m not sure if going for Son is the right decision just because you are chasing a lead in your leagues or want to climb up the ranks.

At the end of the day, it is the player who gives you the highest points that matter for captaincy. If you think Son is the best option, for whatever reason, you shouldn’t hesitate to go for it.
