One of the best transfer stories on a yearly basis ultimately comes when a player from a lower league makes their dream move to the Premier League.

These transfers don’t always work out, but it’s hard not to root for the players making their big moves. One such transfer could be on the horizon this summer with Daryl Dike.

Daryl Dike has been linked to a lot of Premier League clubs recently as he’s turned in some great performances in the Championship. Could he turn these performances into a big Premier League move?

Who is Daryl Dike?

More from English League Championship

Daryl Dike is a 20-year-old striker from Oklahoma. He played in college at the University of Virginia before making the move to the MLS.

In the MLS he played for Orlando City FC and had a great debut season. With 8 goals and 3 assists in 17 appearances, Dike showed that he belonged even at a young age.

This led to him being loaned out to Barnsley in the Championship. At the time of the loan, Barnsley were placed 12th and were in need of a boost.

Daryl Dike turned out to be that boost with 7 goals in 13 appearances. Barnsley are now in 5th place and fighting to qualify for next year’s Premier League season.

Which Premier League Clubs are being linked with Daryl Dike?

As can be expected, Dike is being linked with a host of Premier League clubs after such a strong start to life at Barnsley.

Some of the more frequently linked clubs include Everton, Tottenham, Manchester United, Chelsea, Wolves and Leeds United. It makes sense that all of these teams are interested, as they could all use another striker of his quality.

Everton, Wolves, and Leeds in particular make the most sense for Dike. In truth, Everton has been the most heavily linked club with Dike since these rumors began.

It would make the most sense for the player to not go too high up the table as he is still young and in need of top-flight minutes.

The sleeper team in this particular race could actually be Barnsley. They do have an option to buy clause inserted in his loan contract that is rumored to be around £20 million.

If Barnsley is able to qualify for the Premier League it would make a lot of sense to keep one of their best players.
