Manchester United are looking to make a big-money signing this summer and are working out what’s their best deal. Sadly with the options available in Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho, they can only choose one of the two.

Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho will be on every European giants’ wish list this summer since Borussia Dortmund made it publically clear they will need to sell some of their star players.

The two aforementioned outfielders have been linked with almost every Premier League club – one of the teams mostly discussed being Manchester United.

In the past, United were rumoured to be interested in the BVB pair of young-stars but from the links, nothing ever materialised.

This was simply because the Norwegian option chose another career path which lied in Germany while the Englishman did not do enough to grant him a £100m plus move to Old Trafford last summer.

Things have changed and Manchester United could snub a Sancho move altogether

More from Manchester United

One of Man United’s biggest targets has been Jadon Sancho but the club was never willing to fork out Dortmund’s huge asking price.

However, between now and the January transfer window that has past, they have made it public that his valuation has and will drop by the summer.

This prompted the Old Trafford club to step back in and possibly work on a better deal for the Englishman as they could get him on the cheap this time – but now Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the recruitment staff believe it will be better to go in for Sancho’s teammate Erling Haaland.

They see Erling as the better long-term option and best-suited replacement for the one player they have failed to replace since his departure to Inter Milan back in 2019.

The English club has failed to bring in a prolific goalscorer in the absence of the big Belgian, Romelu Lukaku.

If Cavani is leaving Old Trafford  it makes much more sense to sign Erling Haaland

Cavani looks set to leave after the strong publication by his father that his son is unhappy at the Theatre of Dreams.

This leaves them with Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial who are all able to operate in the number 9 role.

Yet, it must be acknowledged, none of them have been consistent enough to lock down the position and make it their own.

This is probably the main reason Man United will turn their attention to signing one of the world’s best strikers rather than going in for one of the world’s most promising Englishman.

The only problem with this, they will face competition from the best in Europe for Haaland’s signature. It will not come easy and it will not come cheap as he is rated as one of the best long-term plans in the world of football today.

Whoever ties him down during the summer will undoubtedly be in the running for major honours for years to come.

Where do you stand on the Sanho and Haaland decision? Are Manchester United right by shifting their priorities to a striker from a winger? Or should they still go in for Sancho rather?
