Transfer Rumor: Leicester City Keeping an Eye on Midfield Target
Leicester City has enjoyed a very successful Premier League campaign so far. But with all great clubs, they will also have one eye looking towards the future.
One area where they could look to strengthen the squad is in the midfield. Recently they have been linked with a switch for Boubakary Soumaré of Lille.
Why is Boubakary Soumaré being linked with Premier League clubs?
To put it very bluntly, Boubakary Soumaré is one of the best young defensive midfielders in world football. He has been able to get plenty of first-team football with Lille and looks the part of a top defensive midfielder.
On top of this, Soumaré does not have much time left on his contract. Reports state that his contract will be expiring in the summer of 2022.
This means he could be available for a much smaller transfer fee as Lille looks to cash in before his deal expires. As a result, I would expect that any club with a need in the midfield department will have a high interest in the player.

Leicester City has been known in recent years for making impact signings from lesser-known players.
Some examples that come to mind are Riyad Mahrez, Ngolo Kante, Youri Tielemans, and James Maddison. They have been known to identify quality talent in the midfield department.
When Leicester locks onto a target that may be available on the cheap, other teams should really be paying attention.
Boubakary Soumaré should be considered another example of this should the Foxes make their interest concrete.
With Leicester City in 3rd place at this point, they are surely looking at Champions League football next season.
