Recent results in the English Premier League have not gone Jose Mourinho’s way. In the last five top-flight games, Tottenham Hotspur have just one victory, having lost the other four.

This has brought tons of pressure on the Portuguese tactician to deliver immediate results or else his future is at stake in North London.

According to recent reports, Tottenham have named RB Leipzig boss, Julian Nagelsmann, as their target to replace Jose Mourinho.

"Tottenham Hotspur will place Julian Nagelsmann at the top of a list of targets to replace head coach Jose Mourinho if the Portuguese cannot arrest the club’s dismal run of results and save his job.Mourinho faces a crucial 12 days which could help to determine whether or not he is in charge of Spurs next season, or whether the club make a move to try to appoint Nagelsmann(Via: Telegraph)"

The fade of Jose Mourinho with Spurs

More from Tottenham Hotspur

Though Mourinho lost his first Premier League game against Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton, the manager bounced back with two wins in the next three games.

Thereafter he registered an emphatic 6-1 victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Spurs’ fans were in awe of their newly appointed manager after the club found themselves on top of the points table early December.

However, things fell apart for Spurs like a house of cards. The club endured a defeat against the champions Liverpool and including this loss, Spurs have just three victories in 12 Premier League games.

Currently, they sit in ninth place and are nine points adrift of a Champions League spot.

It is also rumored that Mourinho’s methods have split the dressing room. Some players are said to be bored of the manager’s defensive tactics and this has led to frustration.

The gaffer does retain admiration and support from captain Harry Kane, Son and Hojberg but other players are slowly becoming anti-Mourinho.

We observed the same treatment of the manager during the final days of Mauricio Pochettino at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

Mourinho was appointed by Daniel Levy in November 2019 after they sacked Pochettino, owing to their poor home run. It is being further reported that the multi-EPL champion has the next three games to turn his season around.

The North Londoners play Burnley, Fulham and Crystal Palace in the next three fixtures. Defeats in these games can be a final nail in Mourinho’s coffin.

Despite the odds being stacked against the manager, Tottenham and Daniel Levy will have to take a relook at their plans if they are sacking Jose Mourinho.

Spurs have to pay a sum of £30million if they are to remove the manager before his contract ends. Mourinho’s contract runs until the end of the 2022/23 season.
