Inter Milan’s Coppa Italia hero will not be allowed to leave following the manager’s recent statement.

Christian Eriksen could have found his mojo at the right moment. The Dane played a huge role in Inter’s victory over their city foes, AC Milan, in the Coppa Italia. The score was deadlocked for majority of the 90 minutes.

It was in the final moments; the dying embers, that Eriksen pulled out one of his trademark specials – a freekick just outside the 18-yard box. There was no coming back as the goal was scored in the 97th minute of the game.

Their next involvement in the cup competition is the two-legged semi-finals against Juventus, with the first meeting taking place at the San Siro. Sadly this final moment of brilliance could ultimately stop any move out of Italy for Eriksen.

Antonio Conte wants no player to leave the San Siro during January

More from Tottenham Hotspur

There is a lot for Conte and his boys to play for this season. After 19 Serie A games played Inter sits second in the standings, only two points away from their neighbours, Milan.

Adding to the title challenge they have the Coppa Italia to push for. Because of this, the Italian boss is not prepared to let any of his squad members go during the January window.

"Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte says struggling midfielder Christian Eriksen is going nowhere this month after he netted a superb free-kick against rivals AC Milan."

The manager added by saying:

"For a month now I’ve been saying the same thing: this is the Inter squad. Nobody will arrive, nobody will leave. I keep saying it and nobody seems to believe me.We are working with Eriksen on a tactical level to find an alternative for [Marcelo] Brozovic, because we don’t have someone like that in the squad.Christian is a very intelligent lad, he has quality, he’s part of the project and I am happy he scored that goal. I really wanted him to take it, as we all know the quality he has from set plays. (Via: dailymail.co.uk)"

Antonio Conte can’t be faulted for wanting to keep the playmaker at the club following his defining moment. If he can build on his winning freekick, he could cement a place in the starting XI – something he has struggled to do in his time at the San Siro.

This leaves Tottenham with no other option but to keep Dele Alli in North London. A move for Dele to leave for PSG and reunite with his old boss Mauricio Pochettino was totally dependant on Christian Eriksen moving back to his old club.

Since Pochettino took over at Paris Saint-Germain, Eriksen has also been linked with a move to Paris. They plus Arsenal were the teams in the conversation with Eriksen but have since signed their own playmaker, Martin Odegaard.

This takes them out of the Christian race altogether and paves the way for Jose Mourinho to try and pull off a late deal, that’s if they are still considering making moves in the January transfer window – which is closing for Premier League clubs after Sunday.
