Harry Kane suffered from not one but two ankle injuries in their loss to Liverpool on Thursday night in the last bit of action for Matchday 20 in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds bounced back to winning ways in quite astute fashion. The final score of 1-3 to the visitors at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was a true reflection of the game with Liverpool the better team out of the two from the first whistle.

The loss came with a double blue for Jose Mourinho and the North London club. They not only lost three points but could be without Harry Kane for a few fixtures as we approach the most important part of the campaign.

"Jose Mourinho reported that Harry Kane suffered injuries to both ankles as he was forced off at half-time in our 3-1 defeat against Liverpool on Thursday night."

More from Tottenham Hotspur

Kane was involved in two incidents with two separate opposition players. The first episode was a challenge from Thiago Alcântara and the second was thanks to a contest between him and the Liverpool captain, Jordan Henderson.

One was fine but two was just too much to get him through another 45 minutes – the manager having to remove him from the game at halftime despite just going behind when Bobby Firmino scored the opener before the halfway break.

The manager said after the game:

"It’s two ankles, not one, two. He was coping with one, he couldn’t cope with both. Clearly, he’s a guy with good spirit, good sacrifice, so for Harry to say, ‘no chance’ for the second half, we know that it’s not a simple one. (Via: tottenhamhotspur.com)"

Jose Mourinho will wait for the verdict

Jose will wait for the club’s doctor to find out the extent of the damage to his striker’s ankles. Harry has done well to stay fit for a large part of the campaign. The two seasons prior to this one, Kane struggled to finish more than 29 Premier League games for the North Londoners.

Spurs travel to the South Coast of England for a meeting against Brighton at the weekend. On their February schedule, they have encounters with Chelsea, Manchester City and West Ham United, all of whom find themselves ahead of Spurs in the standings besides Chelsea.

Son, who has been one of the most in-form forwards on the globe, will be able to handle the pressures of leading the line without his partner for the next couple of games.

But not having Harry Kane for the big clashes will have Tottenham’s opposition relishing the chance to go up against them. Losing any of their next fixtures will kill their title aspirations as well as their chances of a top-four finish.
