Manchester United steps closer to sealing Alex Telles signing
By Varun Aithal
According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have agreed to personal terms and agent fees with FC Porto fullback, Alex Telles.
Manchester United are eager to offer competition for their fullbacks and provide cover to Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams. Moreover, the defeat against Sevilla in the Europa League has made the left-back a priority this summer.
The Red Devils are in advanced talks with Porto trying to agree on final a fee for Alex Telles. The Portuguese are expecting a fee close to €20m for their 27-year-old Brazilian star, who they fear to lose in a year on a free.
Telles, who might be permitted to speak to possible suitors in January over a free transfer, is in the last year of his contract.

They are said to be in favor of selling him now instead of losing him on a free come summer, as mentioned previously. It is believed that the 27-year-old hasn’t agreed to a new contract with Porto as the club has failed to accept Pini Zahavi’s €4m-a-year pay.
Fabrizio Romano also stated that Man United have a Plan B in place if they are unable to agree to a fee with FC Porto.
Although he did not spell out as to who precisely the player is, the rumors suggest that it might be Argentine fullback Nicolas Tagliafico of Ajax.
Manchester United fans have already grown frustrated hearing the club has “agreed to personal terms” but no deal has been completed. The club agreed to terms with Sergio Reguilon but couldn’t agree to a fee with Real Madrid.
United was also rumored with Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell but Chelsea got the Chilwell transfer over the line.
