Another day and another signing for Steve Bruce, Mike Ashley, and Newcastle United.

The Magpies welcomes another relegated player but this time from Carrow Road. Jamal Lewis completes his move from the Championship back to the Premier League and signs for Newcastle on a five-year deal worth £15 million.

"Newcastle have signed Northern Ireland full-back Jamal Lewis from Norwich City on a five-year contract."

Lewis was a hot prospect for a host of top-flight clubs after his team couldn’t beat the drop. Afore his move over to St. James’ Park, Jurgen Klopp wanted him at Liverpool with them failing in their attempt to sign the player.

They saw a £10m bid get rejected by the Canaries board, ultimately leading to them pulling out of the deal and signing an alternative left-back option in Kostas Tsimikas from Greek side Olympiacos. The Magpies wasted no time to swoop in and signed him for what Norwich was holding out for, their £15m valuation.

The manager has been an admirer of Lewis for some time now, stating how he has watched him developed on the football pitch over the years.

Steve Bruce said:

More from Newcastle

"Jamal is a very exciting prospectI watched him flourish in the Championship two years ago and he made a real fist of it in the Premier League last season."

This is Newcastle’s third player signed from a relegation team and their fourth for the season. A first from Norwich while the other two were former Cherries, Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser, who became a free agent after not renewing his Vitality deal. It took the EPL outfit just 24 hours to announce their three newcomers.

They’ve now spent a small total of £35m and welcome almost a handful of players to St. James Park. Former Burnley man Jeff Hendricks joined the club as the other free agent. It can not be said enough, what a marvellous transfer window for Steve Bruce and Newcastle.

And a round of applause must be given to Mike Ashley, who has really put his hands deep in his pockets to make sure the fans can be excited about the new season ahead.

The 22-year-old left back Jamal Lewis is one for the future. Great at going forward and has an excellent work rate with a foot for a sweet delivery, as well as a strike for the odd goal or two. Bruce can help him develop even further with Lewis more than grateful to be a part of them and wanted by them.

"It was something that I was obviously looking forward to when I heard that there was serious interest, so I’m delighted to be here now – Newcastle’s such a great club with such history,” he added. (Via: Sky Sports)"

Has Newcastle done enough in the summer window? Or should they be adding another centre-back before calling an end to their transfer business?
