Leicester City

Fixtures

Attack 54%

Defence 64%

There are some tricky fixtures in line for Leicester. They have to play Man City and Arsenal both away from home. If you can find a decent rotation partner for them then there are options in that defence, but really people only look at Leicester for one man…

Main Pick

Jamie Vardy (FWD, 10.0m)

Who else? Vardy was crowned with last season’s Premier League Golden Boot after scoring 23 goals and 210 FPL points. He isn’t high up for shots, but he has more big chances than any other striker last season, and the fact that he takes fewer shots helps his bonus point potential (missed shots count as a negative). His 47.2% accuracy is also one of the best in the league, so you know when he gets those chances there is a high chance of him burying them and getting you some returns.

Differential Pick

James Maddison (MID, 7.0m)

Maddison has been a solid FPL pick for 2 seasons, with 13 goals and 12 assists since joining Leicester. In his price bracket, only Grealish created more chances, but we all know the difference in quality between the strikers working with Grealish and those with Maddison. If anything, he underperformed last year thanks to poor finishing (not blaming anyone… Ayoze Perez), so fingers crossed he will make a mockery of his 7.0m price tag this year!

Defensive Pick

James Justin (DEF, 4.5m)

Justin played the majority of project restart because Pereira was injured. In that time, he picked up an assist and 4 clean sheets. Pereira is still injured, while Justin is super cheap at 4.5m! As I said above, look for a decent rotation pair (Leeds play Sheffield United and Aston Villa in the weeks Leicester face Man City and Arsenal, and their defence could be this season’s Sheffield United).

Steer Clear

Ayoze Perez (MID, 6.5m)

He made a big-money move from Newcastle last year and in my preview, I said he was a trap. I think I was proven right after 8 goals and 5 assists, a lot of which came in the 9-0 demolition of Southampton. He spends most of his time on the wing but doesn’t put in many crosses so has limited FPL returns. Spend the extra 0.5m and go for Maddison.
